Mister Lonely

Patagonia cover art

Mister Lonely is a strangely beautiful post rock band from Kentucky. A five piece with some really brilliant acoustic stylings that you can get lost in and fall in love with this is a force to be reckoned with. It could be described as a very toned down version of Guthrie Govan's Erotic Cakes. The subdued feel that dominates their new release Patagonia shows the inner magic of this band. I really like the use of a cello in the arrangements. I feel like that helps an incredible band to stand out even more. They get a whole new level of darkness from the moody atmospheres that it helps to build. Yet there are also some interesting experimental noise bits like on Lomezal C/Ba this gives the band a bit of variety and shows off some of the interests of the musicians themselves. Overall this is one of the most beautiful and simply fascinating bands that I have heard in a long while. Everyone should check these guys out!
